Are you doing conscious business or consuming with awareness?

conscious business

Are you a business owner, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, goods manufacturer, service provider, food producer, factory owner, supplier, vendor, inventor, innovator, influencer, leader, teacher, entertainer, changemaker, or even a consumer? Then I want to ask you, what is the nature of your business? Are you selling a service that is beneficial or detrimental to our species? Are your goods helping or hurting humanity? Is the food, clothing, cosmetics, drinks, drugs, gadgets, or other items of consumption you’re producing healing or harming our health? Are you doing conscious business or even consuming with enough awareness? Is your business forwarding the collective human story or regressing it? Is it important for you to consider these questions while doing business? Is this something to think about before you set out to make money in the world? Where does your money even come from? Does this matter to you? It should, you know, because it says something about how you want life to be. You see, we are creating all of it. All of it!

If you’re not a part of the solution, you’re a part of the problem. Every choice, every action, every decision by every person is writing the collective human story. Hence the question beckons, what are you choosing to create today?

global village

❥ If you’re processing food, do you care to check whether every ingredient going into it is creating more disease or eliminating them? If you buy processed food off of supermarket shelves, do you stop to read their labels or even educate yourself about harmful preservatives before a purchase?

❥ If you’re selling meat, do you care how you treat other life forms? If you consume animals, do you purchase pasture-raised organic meat from those suppliers who treat animals humanely, or even know who those suppliers are?

❥ If you’re consuming any medicine or drug, do you bother to inform yourself about its side-effects on your body or blindly trust the medical system? More often than not, these systems don’t have your best interest at heart; heck, they don’t even have a heart!

❥ If you’re manufacturing cosmetics, do you imbue your products with toxic chemicals to increase shelf-life but not self-life? If you’re buying cosmetics, do you check all the ingredients to ensure you aren’t unconsciously harming yourself? Are you aware what those ingredients will do to your body?

❥ If you’re in the entertainment industry, are you conscious of what impact your creations may have on mass mind, or do you engage in junk content just to make money? When you consume such content, do you exercise discernment or are you looking to be entertained at any cost?

❥ If you’re a factory owner, are you only invested in your own profits or do you care to ensure that your actions aren’t directly or indirectly leaching harmful chemicals and toxins into the environment or the products you manufacture?

❥ If you’re in the liquor industry, do you stop to find out whether what you’re distributing is causing harm or healing your consumers? Alcohol, even in small amounts, gets converted into acetaldehyde which is a known carcinogen and damages the DNA.

You may be a sincere person, highly intellectual and intelligent, doing honest business to make money, providing for your family while also making millions manufacturing alcoholic beverages. You’re proud of your achievements and enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. You believe in your products’ purity and consume them yourself to vouch for their quality, hence do not find anything wrong with doing the business. But even one glass of liquor is a toxin for the brain and liver; it impedes metabolic function by slowing down fat metabolism (beer belly), increases glucose levels (diabetes), shrinks the brain (memory impairment), ruins gut health (leaky gut), interrupts sleep cycles (insomnia), causes cirrhosis of the liver, and so much more! Those studies that say red wine or a glass of spirit a day is good for you, are usually sponsored by owners of wineries and breweries. No matter the type, alcohol is pure inflammation. Same with soft & energy drinks constituting empty calories and empty promises that make the body insulin resistant, and the sugar substitutes in them damage your brain, heart, kidney, gut and overall health. People may consume for pleasure, but given all the harm they bring about—not to mention the drunk driving, addiction and societal nuisance caused by uncontrolled consumption of such products—the question remains: Is it really worth it? Humanity definitely has primitive ways of defining what “fun” is!

I’ve been offered highly-paid jobs and help with my business through sponsorships from liquor & beverage companies; “because there’s so much money in that”, a Canadian man had once tried to convince me, “it’ll skyrocket your business!” My life would have been much easier had I agreed for those opportunities to surface, but I simply couldn’t endorse products that aren’t in alignment with the values my work imbibes.

And alcohol is just one example. There are millions of such products in the market that shouldn’t be there, that poison our system and contaminate the planet, and yet, we continue to manufacture and consume them regularly, knowingly or unknowingly, then spend millions in the treatment of all sorts of diseases and disorders as a consequence, and elite corporations benefit from common man’s suffering. That is why, in today’s dog-eat-dog world, it is even more essential that we transform our ways of being and take our wellbeing into our own hands.

Awareness is everything

If your business, your work, your services and goods are enhancing lives on the planet in one way or another, then kudos to you! But if not, I want you to ask yourself, why not? This is not to pass judgement but to create awareness: What legacy will you leave for future generations?

The entire journey of life requires for us to make choices at every juncture. There remains, then, only one question: Are you making conscious or unconscious choices? Even so, it is not always possible to make every choice in conscious awareness, and sometimes our unconscious choices lead us to more consciousness when we suffer their painful consequences, which is okay, because that is how we learn, evolve, grow, mature, and become self-aware. Still, it matters to at least try and make our choices in as much awareness as possible by weighing their consequences on ourselves and others, especially when it comes to our means of livelihood, because in the end there is no other, but the Self only. And through our unconscious ways of being and becoming, we are harming none but ourselves. We are all one!

Unconscious vs conscious

If you see life on earth as a random, chaotic, biological, linear journey that begins at birth and ends at death, then all your choices will be unconscious, reacting to every external circumstance and defining your identity based on what you can accumulate in terms of wealth, respect, fame, power, status, comfort, luxury, etc. Whereas if you perceive life as a divine, intentional, eternal, non-linear journey with no beginning no end, then your choices will be more purposeful, conscious, joyous and deliberate, crafting your inner experiences that directly impact external reality, and your priorities will be very different from the one who is always in survival mode.

Now, what does survival mode look like? It is reflected in every life choice you make; if your priority is in hoarding more and more material assets then you would try to surround yourself with all sorts of comfort and security, because that gives you the illusion of power in the face of adversity, like survival of the fittest, strongest, wealthiest, and so on. However, all that can be taken away from you with a gust of the wind. Then what? Who are you despite the dice life throws at you? Who are you without the riches, without the big houses and cars, without the friends’ circle and social image, without the physical possessions and external validations with which you’ve identified? Can you answer that question for yourself? Strips off all false notions you’ve ever held about Who You Are, yeah?

Some people spend their entire lives accumulating—more luxury, more security, more power, more status, more pseudo vacations, more social media followers—and call that success, when life begins at the end of our comfort zone, at the point of uncertainty and the unknown. They become a slave to comforts they cannot do without, and the rest of their lives is spent in maintaining those armors of possession at any price! But, where’s the excitement in that? Where is the adventure of being alive? Where is the joy of discomfort that challenges the personality to evolve and expand?

Self-expression: While material possessions bring a certain amount of satisfaction, you may have the so-called success, status, security and still feel empty inside. Because true success is not measured by the houses you own, the cars you drive, the jewelries you wear, the brands you sport, the designer labels you carry, the interior decorations your living space boasts, or all the other properties you possess… yes, those “accessories” are nice to have and enjoy them all you want, but remember that life on earth has more meaning than just living until you die. It has to do with the evolution of your consciousness, the only thing you can carry onto the other side—not a penny of your belongings, but how much you’ve truly lived or loved or served or cared or created or expressed or evolved or actualized in a given lifetime… treasures of the heart! What a man can be, he must be. Deep within every living being lies a sacred yearning, a divine impulse to radiate its true essence: to self-express. It is a need to become, completely and authentically, all that one is meant to be, also called self-actualization. Life is not just about what flows to you, but what flows through you.

This kind of thinking may be radical, yet it is transformational, because it demands that you shed your comfort zone of limiting beliefs; it challenges false identities, pulls you into the unknown, and for someone grounded in the material world who’s been told that safety equals success, this can feel like a threat, not a blessing—like abandoning the script and stepping away from the society-approved path, shaking the foundations of a carefully constructed life. Imagine spending your entire life building a persona, a successful career, a specific social standing, a tough exterior, only for someone to see through your hidden fears and the hidden greatness you’re too afraid to claim. The mirror may be unbearable—to see your insecurities laid bare in a way never before. Facing this crossroad between the known and the destined can feel like an inner war between preservation and transformation. There’s fear that everything stable will collapse, that you’ll lose control, that the intensity of such a life will consume you whole, so you do what feels safe—you retreat, resist, reject, but deep inside a part of you knows that safety isn’t peace; it’s a cage!

Abundance is our birthright

Abundance is our birthright and no one should be deprived of true wealth. We are not just here to survive but to thrive, and not at the expense of one another, but with one another. Everyone should prosper here because the earth’s resources are bountiful for all of us to enjoy, not just for an elite few. So, by all means, enjoy all the material comfort and luxury you want, but never get so attached that you cannot do without them and miss the real adventures of life that come from a willingness to be uncomfortable.

Abundance is a frequency that anyone can tap into—it’s a mindset and can show up in your life in many forms; you’re not taking away from another when you embrace it. When people chase external validations, what they’re actually after is a feeling… the feeling of warmth, comfort, stability, security, peace, respect, perfection, wholeness, etc. Rather than chasing these externally, if they cultivate the feelings internally, then the entire world can become their playground of possibility. This kind of abundance is unfathomable by most people as they’re usually stuck in one type of social status or another. And while the former is sponsored by fear, panic, lack, the latter is sponsored by love, expansion, evolution.

You can become a millionaire doing what brings value to millions and live purposefully, but if your money is made at the expense of others’ wellbeing then ask yourself what you can do differently to bring more benefit through your work. You could be making billions advancing the expansion of the collective human experience through new inventions, innovations, creations, explorations, excavations, discoveries, technologies, entertainment that serve our species, or, you could be using your billions for destructive purposes, mass control, power games, domination, deception, manipulation, corruption, violation, violence, war, abusing resources that disserve us, trading your human integrity to leave behind a world more disempowered than before. This is the difference between conscious and unconscious choices; one propels the evolution of humanity while the other compels stagnancy, stunts growth, lacks forward movement or any real development.

So, is your business bringing benefit to humanity or begetting the already existing problems that your offspring will fall prey to someday? How about we redefine “rich” as making healthy, conscious choices, be it in our professional or personal lives?

Societal systems

We grow up in societies that don’t have our best interest as priority. Our education system, for instance, doesn’t make us thinkers but workers. Most of our schooling institutions are structured in such a way that make us obey authorities, follow rules, memorize but not think, breeding people to work 9 to 5 jobs for elite corporations. That is why we study mundane subjects in school with few practical applications in real life, instead of lessons in critical thinking, problem solving, meaningful living, sustainable business, conscious relationships, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, peaceful conflict resolution, body intuition, and such. I mean, really, look at our schools where we have to slog through our formative years, which pretty much sets the blueprint of how the rest of our lives are going to be as adults. It’s like factories producing workers, who work forever, which makes them sick, so they have to take pharmaceutical drugs to stay alive and from that the drug industries make endless money, taking people from natural healing remedies towards pharmaceutical-based care.

What society values in us is mostly what kills us or makes us sick. The billion-dollar pharmaceutical industry has a vested interest in keeping us diseased. The trillion-dollar food industry has a vested interest in messing with our health and hormones. The capitalistic society thrives off keeping us emotionally isolated and mentally stunted through all sorts of deleterious entertainment. These systems are really just a monopoly so that the elites keep making more money. And we are vulnerable to them. Healthy people are not profitable for the economy. Nevertheless, it is also in our hands—yours and mine—to change these systems.

And how do we do that? By saying “no”. No to that toxic fast food which is not really food but trash, no to plastic and its byproducts, no to chemical-based cosmetics, no to synthetic fabrics & dyes leaching microplastics into our bodies and the environment, no to drugs, etc. I mean look around you, almost everything is poisoned… the meat we eat is injected with hormones and carcinogens, water’s got fluoride and heavy metals in it, all this stuff being sprayed in the sky, the soil where our food grows is contaminated with herbicides & pesticides, continuous emission of electromagnetic frequencies from devices all over… You think cancer is just a part of ageing? No, it’s not! People are falling sick so often because there’s poison in the very air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we ingest, the soil we tread on, and we created all of this!

Empath and the Matrix

We are the creators of this consensus reality, this matrix. Therefore, we can also change it. We can reprogram ourselves to carve a new legacy. We can decide that we don’t want any of this anymore; we don’t want chemicals in our water, we don’t want to eat genetically modified food, we don’t want to apply toxic creams on our skin or make an enemy of the sun that sustains all life. When enough people wake up and stop patronizing these harmful products and services, they will stop manufacturing them. This is why it is so important, now more than ever, for us to awaken to ourselves and choose differently moving forward—say “yes” to organic food, natural healing methods, essential oils and herbs, healthy entertainment and human-human connection, real regenerative farming, clean water, pure air, so we can enter a new world of health, abundance, and harmony for all. Let’s create that matrix together, first in our consciousness, then in our reality. That is true prosperity.

Reality is consciousness pushed out. Everything is a reflection of the extent of evolution of our consciousness, be it at an individual or collective level: the current state of the world, the choices we make, the things we consume or do for fun, mass control and subjugation, epidemics and diseases, and so on. Do you see why nowadays more and younger folks are dropping out of conventional systems, going off on a tangent, creating and even thriving in their own businesses? It is the rebels, misfits, artists, starseeds, troubadours and weird people that show us a different way to live and see the world.

Connection with the universe

The world is in this state today because most people in authority have lost their connection with the larger universe. They don’t see the grander scheme of things, the bigger picture that the human story is painting here on earth for thousands of years paving way for the future generation and evolution of our consciousness. The matrix keeps humanity asleep. Through layers and layers of distortion of this physical 3D world of contrasts, they have forgotten who they really are and what they came here to do—to re-member their divinity! And so, in order to feel secure and powerful, they believe taking away power from another will increase theirs hence try to control and manipulate in all sorts of ways. However, the exact opposite happens. They are in a perpetual state of fear, constantly trying to gain more control over others so as to mask their own insecurities, but in the process feel less and less secure about themselves as they lose touch with their true essence—love and freedom. Because they haven’t sat with themselves to process unconscious fears and feel secure in their own presence. They are so afraid of themselves, so disconnected from their inner worlds, so detached from their real emotions neglected for so long, lost in roles and expectations that don’t reflect the truth of who they are, living out of alignment with their soul’s purpose that they become insensitive not only to others but also to their own feelings. It is trauma masquerading as power, achievement built on self-abandonment.

The collective shadow: Throughout history this dynamic is evident where charismatic figures have led societies into conflict or oppression by tapping into collective fears and resentments. Leaders who haven’t confronted their own shadow manipulate the collective shadow to achieve their personal agendas. By stoking fear, prejudices and hatred they exploit unconscious impulses for control and power. This is the danger of the collective shadow that can overwhelm reason and morality. To prevent this, one must cultivate self-awareness and moral courage. When enough individuals take responsibility to transmute their inner shadow, the power of the collective darkness diminishes. Usually when people gain power over others, it tempts the ego to ignore the shadow. However, ignoring the shadow only makes it stronger beneath the surface ready to erupt any moment. True strength comes from integrating the shadow and understanding that power must be balanced with responsibility and accountability. Pain is information and must be felt without identifying with it. Difficult emotions like hatred, resentment, disappointment, betrayal, shame, anger, anguish, agony, angst, grief, jealousy, bitterness, unworthiness, insufficiency, etc. must be witnessed within oneself sans judgement, then channeled into creative energy to balance light and dark, thus wholeness can be achieved by integrating those fractured aspects of oneself. Shadow work, in short, is radical self-acceptance.

We are breeding such diseased societies because our unresolved wounds lead to all kinds of destructive thinking that, in turn, is reflected in the external world through fragmentation and dysfunction. Nothing—no experience—comes from the exterior. Everything stems from the interior. We are all guided on our destiny paths; when we stay connected with our inner world, we lose fear because we sense that guidance in our intuitive imaginings. In order to feel secure and true power, we need to connect with the universe inside each of us that reveals the path of the heart through signs & synchronicities, as our internal compass takes over the external map. Once we can access that state of awareness, our values will sharpen and fine tune to hold all of humanity and its collective story in our bosom.

Add meaning to your work

You may be a banker, broker, lawyer, trader, engineer, doctor, educator, content creator or movie maker—it is immaterial what you do for a living, but what truly matters is if you can add value to your business that uplifts others and yourself. All true service is symbiotic, i.e., mutually beneficial. You may launch something creative, intuitive and soul-led that comes from authenticity and a sense of purpose, and that feels profoundly fulfilling and in alignment with your truth. Ralph Waldo Emerson emphasized the idea that a life of meaning and impact is more valuable than a life solely focused on happiness.

The purpose of life is not happiness, but meaning.

Mission & meaning: Make money and also make it your mission to bring meaning to mankind, so your days and nights are filled with satisfaction and inner vision. I’m not advocating that you drop everything, become a martyr, go out there and save the world. No, not at all! What I mean is that, in your own world, in your individual space, you can imbibe more awareness into what you do, add more consciousness to your daily choices in both your professional and personal space, as a creator and a consumer. When you see work as something sacred you’ve come here to do in order to forward the collective human story of which you’re a part, your business and your heart will flourish. Remember, you’re in this world but not of it.

Conclusion: Climb the mountain

To summarize, if your business is advancing, benefitting, bettering, educating, elevating, empowering, enhancing, enlightening, feeding, fueling, healing, helping, inspiring, loving, motivating, nourishing, nurturing, servicing, serving, supporting, teaching, training or uplifting others and yourself in any way, then great! Else, I invite you to rethink your strategies, especially if you are in a position to make changes and not making a hands to mouth living. Build a legacy, not just a life.

And finally, don’t do things because they are easy. Do things because they are hard, that you can fail at and still be proud. Climb a mountain or go on a world tour & stay with locals. Follow your heart and your dreams. You don’t have a dream? Then create one. Is it wild enough, grand enough to contain your soul? Go to Antarctica and look for aliens! Do things because they spark your imaginations, play up to your illusions and unicorns just for the sake of it. Pursue your crazy dreams even if they seem illusory or out of reach. That’s what makes reality so magical. And, at last you will have understood what you’re doing here. All the rest is just stuff and nonsense.

As Neale Donald Walsch says, money is not the issue; having the courage to give your highest gift is. God is not concerned about your worldly success. Only you are. There is no security in doing something for a living when you are dying inside while doing it. That is taking care of the body at the expense of the soul. And a withering soul cannot help but produce a withering body. So, do not think you are “taking care of yourself” by killing your spirit to keep your body alive. How long will you put off what you are dying to do?

And while you’re doing the business of living, pause and enjoy art because it is an expression of the heart. Rather seek to create art in all that you do. And your time on earth will be abundantly blessed—rich with color and creativity.

A paradox: Exiting the matrix

all of life is an imagination, a creation

Here’s a trick: It is not always possible to monitor every choice, every decision, every action, everything you consume, and definitely, you should not eat or drink anything in fear or guilt. Rigidity kills! So, even if you indulge in that junk food once in a while, or any kind for that matter, bless it: sprinkle it with cosmic dust emanating from your fingers to imbue health, vitality, beauty, intelligence, superpower or whatever more you desire; imagine golden light descending from the heavens and permeating your food with love and panacea—get creative with your imaginations—then swallow it joyfully and shamelessly, believing it will only do good to your body having been energized with divine essence. You cannot be in a state of resistance to what you eat, drink, wear, think, say or do. And that should do the trick, because in the end, we still create with our beliefs, which exist in our wonderful human imagination—our source code and divine power. That’s how you play with the energies of creation.

You can use your imagination to overwrite existing physical reality, quantum jump into parallel timelines & alternate possibilities, and as reality starts to shift for you—disease disappears, disorder dissolves, damage heals, defense melts, dysfunction transforms, death transcends, and ta-da! What you persistently assume in your imagination, in unwavering faith, becomes real for you. That is why prayers and placebos work. Our immune system is not a protector, but a confirmer of our consciousness; an empowered consciousness produces an empowered immune system and vice versa. That is how many smokers, heavy drinkers, and those with unhealthy lifestyles stay in good health and mental clarity. That is also how many folks escape the horrors of educational and medical systems, as they manage to exit the matrix of consensus reality by thinking out of the box, by being in this world but not conforming to its ways. It is all an illusion, this third density of duality. But if you become doubtful, fearful, or resentful, it’ll wreak havoc in your matrix of reality. Like attracts like—fear attracts fear, love attracts love! Still, that doesn’t mean we should abuse our choices and resources, or overdo the processed food, which leads us back to whence this composition began. The circle is complete. The polarities unite. I lay my year-end reflections to rest. Stay well, stay safe… happy new year!

P.S. I know that you, the reader, aren’t one of those creating destructive patterns, but among those seeking healing and transformation. And rightly so, because it is in your hands to change this reality matrix by making empowered choices and taking inspired action. When enough people do that, the collective reality on earth is bound to shift. Because those folks in positions of power abusing their authority, won’t bother to read an article like this neither are interested in the kind of change that will topple their status quo.
