Rising Asia Journal

Rising Asia Journal is a scholarly publication and journal of record with a multidisciplinary orientation. It serves as a resource for the study, investigation, and teaching of Asian societies. Each volume of the journal contains interpretive essays on all aspects of Asian history, economy, diplomacy, literature, health, science, military affairs (war, peace and society or WPS) and culture. Professor Julie Mehta holds M.A. and PhD degrees in English Literature and South Asian Studies from the University of Toronto. Her PhD dissertation, “Unchaste Goddesses, Turbulent Waters: Representations of the Divine Feminine in Postcolonial South Asian Fiction,” establishes indomitable feminine power as voices of resistance against the patriarchy. Her Master’s thesis entitled “Being Gaijin and Being Female in the Sakoku Culture of Japan” explores the Japanese works by Meira Chand, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Pico Iyer. She also writes regularly for The Telegraph—the largest circulating English language newspaper in Eastern India, and did an extensive author interview & book review on Diwali 2023.
